Trained as a computer scientist, Sebastian Payne received a Master’s in investigative journalism from City University London in 2011. As a data reporter at the Daily Telegraph, he produced front-page stories on government spending and worked with staffs across the newsroom to crunch numbers. Since 2012, he’s been Online Editor of the Spectator magazine, where he oversaw a major site redesign that helped yield a four-fold increase in traffic. He blogs prolifically at the Coffee House – a must-read source of political journalism modeled on our own The Fix and Wonkblog. He hosts and produces a weekly podcast with 100,000 weekly downloads. He’s broken stories that have changed government policy, and he’s covered news events ranging from the London riots to the royal wedding.
