Eric Morath covers the economy from The Wall Street Journal’s Washington Bureau. He reports on major economic news and the Federal Reserve, Treasury and Commerce departments. He regularly writes for the paper and contributes to the Real Time Economics blog and the WSJ Live video channel.

Previously, Mr. Morath reported on bankruptcy news, contributing to the paper, Dow Jones Newswires and the Dow Jones Daily Bankruptcy Review. In that role he wrote about Lehman Brothers, General Motors and Chrysler’s Chapter 11 cases and covered bank failures and court room proceedings.

Before joining Dow Jones & Co., he covered the U.S. auto industry and technology for The Detroit News.

Mr. Morath is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he studied economics and journalism. He lives on Capitol Hill with his wife and two-year-old daughter.
