Long recognized as one of the most distinctive cartoonists in the field, Clay Bennett has earned nearly every honor his profession has to offer. A nominated finalist for The Pulitzer seven times and the recipient of the Prize in 2002, he’s also received the Sigma Delta Chi Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, the National Headliner Award and the Overseas Press Club’s Thomas Nast Award. After working briefly as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, Bennett went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007). He now draws five cartoons a week for the Chattanooga Times Free Press, having joined its staff in late 2007. Bennett is a past president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, and his work is syndicated internationally by The Washington Post Writers Group.
