National Press Foundation sponsors help us make good journalists better. Your funding enables NPF to provide training to journalists at no cost to them or their newsroom. Your support of better journalism solidifies the infrastructure of democracy by improving public education and trust.

How Do I Sponsor NPF?

1. Individual Donations
NPF accepts individual donations here. Individuals donating to NPF are often grateful journalists who have received NPF training and others compelled to support journalism as a fourth pillar of democracy.

2. Sponsorships and Tickets for the Annual Awards Dinner
NPF’s Annual Awards Dinner will take place Feb. 15, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. The dinner is NPF’s largest single generator of unrestricted funds for the foundation.

3. Training Sponsorship
NPF’s core mission is to educate journalists on the complex issues of the day and on tools, skills and reporting techniques. Sponsors are encouraged to contact NPF to support our training. We adhere to these guidelines with every training and funder.

  • The NPF model provides training at no cost to accepted journalists. The inclusive costs of each program will always be stated ahead of time.
  • The sponsor(s) will always be identified as the funder(s) of the training in printed materials and online.
  • The sponsor(s) will be invited to address the journalists at the start of the training, welcoming them and explaining why they chose to sponsor this fellowship.
  • The National Press Foundation will control all aspects of every training.
  • The National Press Foundation will be responsible for the development of an agenda/curriculum and the selection of topics, speakers and journalists.
  • The training is on-the-record.
  • We will seek to represent all sides. People and organizations with positions directly opposed to the sponsor’s may be invited to present.
  • All training resources will be published on NPF’s website for the benefit of thousands of journalists who access our resources online.
  • At the conclusion of the fellowship, the sponsor(s) will receive a written evaluation of the program, including evaluations, ratings and comments from each of the attending journalists.
